Christian B. Hjort has extensive experience from a wide range of civil and financial criminal cases. Over the years, Christian has represented companies and private individuals in a number of high-profile financial criminal cases involving corruption, insider trading, market manipulation, financial misconduct and tax fraud. Recent cases include defence assignments for TGS Nopec Geophysical Company ASA (exploration refund under the Petroleum Tax Act – acquittal – LB-2018-191783), the Corporate CEO of Pareto Securities AS (Fraud / market manipulation – acquittal – TOSL-2017-104565) and the CEO of Hexagon AB (insider trading in Next Biometrics ASA – acquittal – LB-2017-170796).
Christian has brought several financial criminal cases of principal interest to the Supreme Court, including the so-called “Ruter case” (HR-2014-1779-A) concerning the lower limit for corruption. He also regularly assists as an advisor and defence lawyer for companies under investigation for possible violations of pollution and working environment legislation.
Furthermore, Christian has extensive experience from various investigation processes either as an investigator or as an advisor to senior executives under investigation. In this context, he draws on his experience in business law in addition to his criminal law expertise.
