Advokatfirmaet Hjort DA's activities are based on the legal knowledge and competence of our people. Hjort sets high standards when it comes to professional competence and we offer our employees opportunities for ongoing professional training and personal development. By structuring the firm around different practice groups and the individual lawyers’ special expertise, we achieve a development of knowledge and transfer of experience.
To ensure the professional strength of the company we have established expert groups and a comprehensive occupational updating programme. In addition to the expert group activities and inhouse courses, we attend external courses in areas of the law where we wish to make our mark.
Our professional strength is corroborated by the fact that our lawyers are on a regular basis asked to sit on various committees of the Norwegian Bar Association, publicly appointed committees and commissions, etc. Several of the firm’s lawyers are engaged as lecturers and course organizers. To this should be added the providing of guidance and appointments as external examiners at the universities and other institutions of learning. Moreover, several of our lawyers are regularly involved in writing articles and text books in various areas of the law.
In the annual international rankings of the major Norwegian law firms Hjort generally scores highly and is recognized as one of the leading Norwegian law firms.
The rating firms annually rank law firms and individual lawyers in Norway. All the rating firms are focused on commercial law and accordingly do not cover all areas of Hjort’s activities. The rating firms base their surveys on interviews with lawyers as well as clients. The results are published in separate books and on their internet websites. Several of these results are also referred to in Norwegian media. We are satisfied that year after year Hjort maintains – and in an increasing number of areas strenghtens – its position and receives acclaim for high professional quality.
